I'm sorry, I"m horrible with the terminology, but anyway, the "slot" where
you put your CD or DVD won't open. I was watching a DVD last night, left it
in the slot overnight. I went to turn on my computer this morning and watch
a different DVD, so I pushed the button to open the slot and all it did was
go "click, click". I've been trying numerous times to get it open, but it
won't. I went through the Troubleshooting and everything, but... I have a
Dell Inspiron 1000 and I haven't installed anything that wasn't originally on
my computer except for my printer.

Hello;
Did you try going to "My Computer" and right clicking on the DVD Drive and
then click on eject?
If it won't eject from there, you will find a small pin hole in the front
panel of the drive. Straighten out a small paper clip and push it straight
into the hole. It will hit the manual eject lever inside the drive and open
the tray. Make sure you push it straight in to eject the cd............
Repost with your results please.

Hi
To open CD DVD insert a long needle into small hole in the front panel and
gently push and door will open. Remove DVD and close and everything should
be back to normal. Good Luck. Alan

Goto BIOS by tapping on your delete key when you turn on your pc - then
press the eject button. While your in BIOS you might want to check if your
cd & dvd drives are being detected. I had a similar problem recently with
both of my cd drives would not open. This is what I did to fix my problem -
it might work for you. Turn off your pc - unplug it from the wall - now for
1 minute hold in the power button - when finished plug pc back in - boot up
to windows & your cd & dvd drives should open. Hope this helps.
