I bought a second hand computer (no I didn't steal it)
It's a HP Pavillion 751x and it has a dvd drive (D) sitting above the CD Rom
drive (E). When I put a data or audio disc in drive E, I get a message "put
a cassette in drive E". The CD Rom seems to have a driver. What does "Put a
Cassette in drive E" imply? I haven't opened the case to see if there is a
connection. This system has some HP system doctor stuff, but i haven't got
into it yet.
Thanks John

The implication is that there is or was a backup tape [casette] device
installed.

The CD and DVD devices would suggest that you insert a disc when attempting
to access either of these when no media was present.

Perhaps you should review your Device Manager - to see that the two optical
drives are properly identified and also if there is a 'phantom' tape device
that should be uninstalled.

Hi, BAR - and John.

And don't forget to click View in Device Manager, then Show Hidden Devices.
Sometimes there are skeletons hiding in this closet.
