Upon closer inspection of My Computer one day (I'm running XP Home
w/SP1), I noticed that my CD drives had completely disappeared. I have
no idea what's going on, but I first attempted to see if the BIOS
detected them. The BIOS only sees one of the drives, a Samsung DVD
drive, and the name was strange, and looked corrupted. I changed the
jumpers on the two drives, but that was an utter failure, as well as
change the IDE cable altogether, but to no avail. I installed two
different drives to see if anything was different, but it's the same if
I install a different drive. After putting the two drives back, I
noticed that one of them now shows up in Windows Explorer, but I can't
access the drive, regardless of whether or not there is a disc in the
drive. And the drive is nowhere to be seen in Device Manager.
