Cd change won't update

I have seen this problem on more than one drive. When I change the CD
to another disk explorer still thinks the first disk is the drive.
This has happened on two of my machines. Both times it was because I
was trying to extract info from a rar file that spans more than one
disk.

Winrar still thinks it is the first drive and when I look at the disk
in explorer it also thinks the disk has not changed.
