cd burning

When I try and burn a CD using Windows XP I get the
message 'Disc is write protected - reomve protection or
insert another disc'. This happens even if I insert a
brand new CD-RW, and happens every time I try. Any
help/ideas would be grately appreciated!
 
Use something like CD Creator/DirectCD /INCD

Ditch XP's builtin burning. As it's limited in what
it can do.

See if recording is enabled...
In Windows Explorer, right-click the drive letter, click PROPERTIES|RECORD tab
