I am currently using Cathy as a disk catalogueing utility for numerous
cd/dvd and hard drives. I have a very frustrating problem that involves the
database not loading at random intervals and I can't figure out how to
manually do it. The only solution seems to be a reboot of the system which
is very frustrating. Any suggestions??

No solution to your question, but I've been using Cathy for about 4 years,
currently with an equal mix of about 300 CDs & DVDs, plus hard drives,
without a single problem. Ever. I probably use it a few times a day.

I guess I'll just have to reinstall but I'd love to back-up the database
first if I could only work out how!

The databases are in the directory you installed Cathy to. Also, Cathy
takes backups; perhaps you have a corrupt file.

You could rename them all to something Cathy doesn't recognise, then
one-by-one naming them back and seeing if Cathy loads them ok.

I can't find anything in the directory except the cathy.exe. What would
the default name or extension be? I could do a search then.

Cathy's database extension is .caf. I don't know why you cannot see it, but
perhaps this extension is hidden due to your folder options? I notice I also
have a .bak file (backup?) in the same folder as Cathy lives.

Hope this helps

Ta Tony.
Found mine in a search in Documents and settings.
Can at least back them up now!
