i seem to recall there being a shortcut for changing the case of a word by
puttign the cursor in the word and hitting the shortcut combo once to change
the case of the first letter, twice to change the case of the whole word, and
a third time to change it back to its original form, but fr the life of me i
cannot remember what the shourtcut combo is. can anyone help?
thanks in advance.

Shift+F3.

And note that it's context-sensitive; the three choices you get depend on
the text selected.
