In my office, a number of users aren't able to use Word as the email
editor, as this checkbox is grayed out. However, I am able to. We are
all using Office 2003. There is only one difference I can see between
my machine and everyone elses. All Office application icons reside in
the Microsoft Office folder of the Start menu on my machine. The other
machines just have Outlook there, and the the other apps (i.e. Word,
Excel PowerPoint) are in the main list of the Start menu programs.
Could this be the problem? If so, how do I correct this? Any other
suggections welcome.

For using Word as email editor it's obligatory that both applications -
Outlook and Word - are existing in the same version!

Hi

I also have the same problem...it is triggering the version mismatch
error

Office outlook version is 11.5608.5606
and MS-Word version is 11.5604.5606

should i update word version to outlook version...then how...using any
service pack....

I'm using Office 2003 SBE. So I am using the version of both programs.

And you said that, for you, it IS working. On the machines where the
Word choice is "grayed out", are versions of Word and Outlook the
same?

Yes. Go to Office Update and download all applicable updates.

Yes, but the people for whom it is not working are not using the same
versions of Word and Outlook and that is evidenced by this:
