can't use search alias from address bar in IE

hey guys. i just got rid of some spyware and now i can't search from the
address bar in IE anymore. i am talking about the searches where you could
just type "g neowin" and it would search google for neowin or however you had
the aliases set up. i tried to delete and re-add the search aliases once i
knew the spyware was gone but they just don't work anymore. i use them alot
so if anyone knows what i can do to get that feature back it would be greatly
appreciated.

Looks like you removed the object that makes the search bar work, some
spyware removal tools allow you to back up what you are about to delete, see
if yours has this option and then find the one you want to keep and go from
there.
 
thanks for the tip. i just tried restored everything and checked everything
before deleting and it didnt work. i think the spyware may have done
something to change it. can i just reinstall IE 6 or something like that? how
would that be done?

I have the same problem with my address bar. I tried the edit on the
registry from line 229, but it still doesn't work.
I have even called MS Tech support.
Any ideas. My search companion doesn't work either for internet. I have a
cable connection...always on yet it says unable to connect after I try a
search.

Suggestions?
