Can't uninstall Internet Explorer

Robert H.

I've tried to uninstall IE 6.0 from my XP Home but it still lingers.
I used Control Panel and uninstalled Internet Explorer. It initially
'seemed' to remove IE.
I have an html document on my Desktop and when clicked on it opens IE! It's
still installed, so I tried using the Add/Remove Windows Components but it
still remains. No sign of IE Icons on Desktop or in Startup but files remain
in the Program Files folder.

Any suggestions?
Thx

Hi Robert,

IE is an integrated part of WindowsXP - you cannot actually remove it. The
option under Add & Remove is only there to hide it for those who do not wish
see it.

Thanks Rick.
I'm reviewing KB#318378 to maybe consider a reinstall of IE and/or XP. I've
done a 'scannow' and all's okay.
The problem is mainly with with one internet slot game program (at
Neopets.com) that causes IE to Close and sometimes BSOD.
Should I continue with a reinstall or is it most likely a 'game
incompatibility' (driver or something else) with IE?

Thx

Hi,

Try reinstalling IE, just locate the ie.inf file under C:\Windows,
right-click it and choose install. Also, make sure you have the java engine
properly installed.

For the Microsoft versions:

For the Sun version:
