The typical complaint is autorun won't work. My problem
is autorun won't turn off! New Dell 4600 PC with Windows
XP Home. I have 2 internal CD and DVD-ROM drives and an
external USB ZIP drive. Every time I load a disk into
any of these they autoplay either a program or Windows
Explorer. I want to disable autoplay. I've configured
the "Autoplay" tab options in Properties for each drive
to "Take No Action" on any type of disk content. There
seems to be no other configuration option regarding
Autoplay in this version of Windows, in Device Manager or
anywhere else--no "Settings" tab. Probably have to
change a registry key.

Will appreciate any tips.

When you insert a CD and the window comes up asking what you want to do,
highlight take no action and click the box at the bottom which says to use
that action every time then click OK.
