Can't stop windows media player when startup

My windows media player will run automaticaly when I
restart the computer and it takes long time to load the
program. How can I stop it running by itself when
startup. Thanks.

Have you went through the propertiies of the player to not start when
windows starts?

"msconfig" typed in the run field to see what is going on at start up.
 
check your computer for spyware.

these pesky programs do something like starting applications when they are not supposed to.

go to www.lavasoftusa.com and download ad aware 6.0 and then scan and clean your computer for the spyware.

Always keep the firewall on, enable ur antivirus scanner and keep it upto date along with your windows updates.
