Hello,
After applying sysprep to this machine (Win XP pro SP2) I can't
start SQL Sever 2000 SP3a (Personal).
The computer doesn't have a domain. I initially started it again
(after sysprep) with the wrong workgroup but that has now been
corrected.
Although I can see the service in the system tray I can't start
it. Opening Query Analyser and clicking registered servers shows
one server there (which is on another machine on the network)
BUT NOT the server I want (on the local machine). The machine
name didn't change when applying sysprep.
I've checked the network protocols and they're all there. The
software is there. It's trying to start but it won't.
Nothing much changed during after apply sysprep except I made
the following change from the Sysprep.inf file that setupmgr.exe
generated:
[SetupMgr]
DistShare=whistlerdist
in place of
[SetupMgr]
DistShare=windist
Could that be causing the problem?
I also included the following 2 entries:
[SysPrep]
BuildMassStorageSection=Yes
[SysprepMassStorage]
How do I check the "registration properties" of my SQL Server?
Would I be better of by uninstalling it and reinstalling?
Appendix - error msgs:
=====================

Reason: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
ConnectionOpen (Connect())..
Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server
registration properties (by right-clicking on the Pentium3\SQL2K
