for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'hoi', Account: 'Marleen Mail', Server: 'mail.planet.nl',

There are two possibilities for this error.

1. You are using a laptop on a network away from your home ISP,
such as at an Internet cafe.

2. Your antivirus program is not compatible.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee and
Norton security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled,
not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

I am having the same problem. My ISP said they can't help me because I use
Windows Mail & that I'll have to call "somebody" - don't know who - hope
someone here can offer suggestion. Like Marleen, mine was working fine this
afternoon.
While mine is trying to receive mail, it says it is receiving message 1 of
133!!

If you've not made any changes to your system than the mail server is
probably down.

Call them back and tell them you're using Outlook Express. The instructions
are the same.

Error 0x800CCC0F is often caused by email scanning. Email scanning should
be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML files from the scan. It
provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

I am having the same problem. What can I do?

Thanks to all who responded. I have discovered my problem. My new ISP
decided to transfer all my old messages from my old address to the new one.
They jammed up my e-mail with 137 new messages! I got on-line and deleted a
bunch of the junk and was then able to download through my Windows Mail, all
the remaining messages. It was really a mess and I am still cleaning up from
it.
Thanks, everyone!!
