Have just set Outlook97 up for the first time. I have double checked and
double checked all my settings and they seem to be fine, However when I
click on "Check for new mail" the "Deliver Mesage" box pops up and tells me
that it is "Checking for new messages and sendinding outgoing
messages"......BUT, no mail is found and no messages are sent.......please
please please, what am I doing wrong??

Have you installed the Office Service Packs for Office 97? Have you
installed the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch for Outlook 97?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

Then it's probably you're not authenticating to your outbound server. There
should be a tab on your account's properties page about the servers.
There'll be a place to specify username and password the outbound (SMTP)
server similar to the fields you filled in for the inbound server.
