Is your smtp connection set up right and is your firewall allowing
smtp on port 25?

Does the connection to the server go through another internet provider's
equipment before it gets to jerrythomaspr.com? If so, connections to
port 25 are often blocked to cause trouble for spammers.

What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of the common
ones, such as Norton, McAfee, and Trend, cause various problems in
Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Jerrythomaspr.com is not an ISP. As such, your real ISP will block
any attempt to use an external SMTP server on port 25. This is a
universal anti-spamming measure.
As a workaround, I suggest you substitute your ISP's SMTP server
for the server shown below. Do not change the incoming server.

Then it may help to post your full error message here.

Also, what if any antivirus programs do you have?

Ok here is the error message. I can send but not received. My ISP said the
problem was with windows mail.
My Anti virus is off (AVG)
Thanks for replying.

I've seen a few messages saying that if you are using port 25, you usually
have to turn SSL off. Try it and see if it helps.

Did you install AVG without the part that scans email? If not, try
uninstalling it and then installing it that way.

Try turning the SSL option off:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select the sympatico account, Properties,
Advanced. Uncheck the box for "This server requires a secure
connection (SSL)."

Well thanks a big lot, turning the SSL option off worked perfectly. I can
send e-mail now.

Now one question, does that create a security matter when sending e-mail if
the SSL is off?

According to http://corp.sover.net/support/faq/c3g.shtml

"Using SSL encryption with your email provides a greater level of
security against the possibility of your username and password
being hijacked as your request is enroute to the server. SSL
encrypts only between your computer and the mail server, it does
not encrypt your entire email message from the mail server to the
recipient."

It is only recently that some mail providers began offering the SSL
option to consumers. I'm not aware of any severe need for it.
If your provider doesn't offer it, then there's not much of a point
worrying about it.
