Cant send mail to newsgroups

Hal Bascom

I can receive mail from newsgroups, but can't send replies. Regular email
works fine. ANyone else having this problem in Windows Mail?

What is the error message?
It looks like you posted this one just fine to the Microsoft server. (BTW,
you don't send mail to a newsgroup. It's called posting and it uses a
different protocol than mail uses.)

There are many servers that are free for reading but you can't post to that
server unless you pay.

bellsouth.net requires a special setting to enable sending posts on
their newsgroups server from Windows Mail. The instructions for
Windows Mail are mostly the same as for Outlook Express, but
look for the difference at the bottom of the Outlook Express
instructions. I don't know why you have to look for instructions
for Internet Explorer to find these instructions.

Do you use "REPLY GROUP" or "REPLY"

If you use just reply you are attempting to send to the poster privately,
but REPLY GROUP" will list it here.
 
The Bellsouth news server is quite finicky. Try this fix:
Tools, Options, Send, in the News Sending Format section be sure
that Plain Text is selected. Click on Plain Text Settings, select
Uuencode, OK. Try posting in a newsgroup.
