Here is a copy of the error message I get:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have never been able to send but receiving is no problem. I have tried
the authentication steps suggested in "Help" and on other postings here. No
luck. Anything I can do?

if you can't send e-mail's then try checking your error and try fixing it. it
happened to me so thats why i'm on microsoft disscusssions. where i can keep
talking to my friends and other people.

Sissy Smith,
Under the Advance tab, in the Mail acct's properties window make the following
changes:
1. Comcast has been requiring users to change the Outgoing Mail Server Port
Setting, from 25 to 587 (also 465 can be used), in email applications, like
Outlook Express, Outlook, Vistamail, etc....
2. Also to require that SSL/TLS option to be checked, just for the outgoing mail
server.
Under the Server tab, make sure that the box is check, that states this accounts
requires authentication.

This has been implemented region by region. If you have not needed to make these
changes, yet, you will in the near future.
