As the subject says, I have upgraded to Office 2003 and
now I can't send any email. I am using Win Xp pro SP2 and
had no problems previously. I can still send email from
Outlook express with no problems but not Outlook 2003. I
have all of the latest patches/fixes and still no luck. I
have also unistalled and reinstalled same problem exists.
Anyone have any ideas?

I hv same problems as Sean. After upgraded to XP SP2, I
found the problem. I tried to dis-able all anti-virus and
firewall softwares; but that does not help.
Can someone help?

I have double and triple checked settings and all are the
same. Why does it work with OE but not Outlook 2003?
Everything worked fine before the upgrade. Can someone
help please and I am tired of switching back and forth
from OE to Outlook 2003. I would rather stay with one mail
client.

Sean, it seems I have recovered fm it. You may try as
well. Please delete totally your email settings (under
tools-email accounts), must delete all of them; then set-
up the email settings again.
Before tht, actually, I hv delete the XP SP2 installation
and re-instal my Office 2003. And using my previous
firewall and anti-virus (i/o from Windows).
Try your luck, and let me know.

I have tried this option and still getting the same
results. Is anyone else not having this problem. Surely
someone from Microsoft can give some support here. Sorry
just getting frustrated at the fact that I have to use 2
different email clients just to send email.

TL thanks for the respones, so far unfortunately they have
not helped with my problem. Thanks.

Sean, I guess the firewall has blocked the outlook.exe
going to internet to download the messages. Try to change
the firewall or dis-able it. A gentle reminder to erase
all your email account settings and create from brand
new. good luck.

So far the only way I have found around this was to use
Windows XP "System Restore" Feature to roll the computer
back to an earlier date to back out WINXP SP2. You would
think Microsoft would have made sure their SP didn't
screw up their own products but apparently not. I'm sure
there's just some little registry tweak that's needed but
I guess they just want everybody to have to spend $100
(or whatever the minimum service call charge is these
days) to get their tech support folks to help you fix the
problem. I don't have this problem at work with an
OUTLOOK Mail server - only at home with a POP3 server.

Hi. I have the same problem without installing the XP SP2 but only
some WIndows XP SP2 fixes automatically downloaded from MS... sigh...

I still did not figure out what's wrong but when I try to connect to
my pop & smtp servers from OL 2K3, my firewall does not log any access
to the network. It seems OL2K3 does not even reach the Internet. Hope
this helps a little to find out... still trying...

did try the following in outlook2003 (not needed in o.e.6 since it work fine
on the computer) activated the trace option and found something interresting
that could help microsoft tech find the solution...
here are the step to activate the trace:
in outlook go to tools,
options
the tab other
button advanced option
check activate mail loggin(trouble shootting) (got the french version so the
name can be different)

here is an idea as to where to find the resulting file OPMLog.log

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Local Settings\Temp\OPMLog.log

this is about a telnet trace
everything from the smtp trace match(exept computer name!) for a good
computer and a bad one until they transmit the line data(witch mean the
outlook is ready to send the email itself)

on a good computer the smtp server from bell answer:
354 please start mail input.
outlook answer with a blank line(ie no body message) and a . to said that
every thing has been send.
The server answer 250 mail queued for delivery. and the transmission is ended.

on a bad one the server answer:
354 ok send data ending with <crlf>.<crlf>
outlook answer as the good computer and then nothing... they both wait until
one of them close the connection.
I would like to know if im the only one who got this kind of problem, if
some one found an answer to solve this.
