Can't SEND e-mail in Outlook 2003, error (0x800410F)

Task ‘pop-server.columbus.rr.com – Sending’ reported error (0x800410F) : ‘The
operation failed. An object could not be found.’

I've had this error code many times. i can't send e-mail, but I can receive.
All answers I've encountered are eith too simplistic and I've tried them 100
times or they are describing something with too little detail. Please help. I
have never been able to use any 3rd part email software (thunderbird,
Outlook, Act etc)
