Hi,

I have installed Microsoft Outlook XP, but it is not
allowing me to send mail. I can check mail with Outlook,
I can check & send mail through Outlook Express, the
setting are identical (imported with the wizard and
checked by hand). What oh what is going on here? I have
tried reinstalling twice, so that's not the issue.

One thing that might be related is that I am installing
from a fresh copy of Windows XP *located on the same
drive as my old copy*. Still, I don't see why that
should screw things up; I have reinstalled everything
from CD only (no copying from the old data at all.)
Please have mercy and tell me what I should do to fix
this; it is driving me crazy.

You can also send mail to aahobor at cs dot princeton dot
edu.

Thanks,
Aquinas

When you set up your accounts in Outlook 2002, did you use the Test Account
Settings option? If yes, what is the error message that you get on the
Errors tab?

Hi,

Thanks for your rapid help.
Yes, I have tried the Test Account Settings. It completes
4 tasks (Establish Network, Find outgoing, Find incoming,
log onto incoming) and fails the final test (send test
email message). The error message is
"Send test e-mail message: Unable to send test Message.
Please verify the E-mail Address field."

However, I have verified that the e-mail address field is
correct.

Thanks,
Aquinas

Try removing and readding the accounts, being especially careful to not use
a comma rather than a period. On some fonts, it can appear to be correct
when actually incorrect.

What is your email address? Please post using the word AT rather than the
symbol to thwart spammers. Feel free to add anything else to mask the
actual account.

Hi,

I have done this and it has exactly the same result;
definately no commas I checked and in this font it's easy
to tell.

This particular account is Aquinas \at/ Verizon pt net.
I have called Verizon and they confirm that it is a
software issue, as everything on their end is working
fine.

Thanks,
Aquinas
