Can't see thumnails in my Documents folder

I can't see actual pictures when I chose thumbnails in my documents.. All I
can see is icons(a painter's pallette and a gear(?)).. Is there a setting to
fix this please

For which file type(s)? Meanwhile, try this command from Start/Run:

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll
