Can't see mp3 files???

I have about 40gb of music on a external USB2.0 drive, and when I do a
My Computer the drive shows the 40gb used. But when I hold the curser
over the main music folder I only see 1 gb, plus the sub directory's
seen only add up to about 1gb.

Any ideas how to recover the invisable files?

I forgot to add I tried Viewing hidden files, and also the partition
had been compressed. I de-compressed it, hoping to see my missing
music.
