Using FP2002, I can open my website via http and see and
edit all files/folders. When I try to do a hyperlink, the
Look In box only shows the webserver name. I cannot view
any of the files/folders. I have 4 webservers and this
just started happening on 2 of them. The other 2 are OK.
Servers are W2K/IIS5.0 with FP2002 Server Ext. They are
supposed to be configured alike. I have checked
permissions, sharing, etc and cannot find any
differences. Workstations are both XP Pro and W2K.

I also noticed in XP Pro My Network Places, I can see all
4 webservers but can only open and see files/folders on 2
of them.

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE

I read your original question and it seems very similar
to the same issue that I just posted on November 24, 2003
at 8:01 PM (the title was Edit with Front page not
displaying files or something like that). I have a
webserver running on W2K W/ SP4. I have frontpage server
extensions 2002 setup. I have one website for my
company. I have about 20 or so subwebs created below
this site that my users upload their own websites.
Basicly to make a very long story short on what was wrong
and what I have tried to do to fix it is as follows:

Problem: My users run windows 2000 and windows xp
professional workstations with either Frontpage 2000 or
Frontpage XP installed. They are able to upload their
web and everything works properly. I have had them try
to edit the webpage directly instead of working off of a
local web and uploading it to the server everytime. So
they open Frontpage and click on File, Open Web. They
type in the address of their site http://www.xxx.com/yyy
where xxx is the domain and yyy is their subweb. It asks
them to authenticate to the webserver. The user
authenticates and frontpage pulls in the entire subweb
with all the images, pages, ect. They can browse the
pages and edit the text and add information to the pages
and this works properly. However when they select some
text and either right click and select hyperlink or
select insert hyperlink the only page or file that is
listed in the selection box is their current page they
have open (eventhough they can view all their pages). If
this sounds like the same problem you are having please
send me an e-mail or post a reply. I have been trying to
troubshoot this for about 2 days and have not been able
to consistently recreate the problem or a solution.

I first thought it may have to do with the server so I
recreated the subweb but this didn't help. I then
removed the frontpage extensions from the server and
resinstalled them. I then extended the web but still had
no better results. I tested this from an outside
computer and was able to edit all of my sites that I
administer directly without any issues (Computer Windows
XP SP1 W/ Office XP and Frontpage XP no support pack). I
did a lot of more testing on my enternal network and
tried from other machines running windows 9X and either
Frontpage 2000 or Frontpage XP. It seemed that Frontpage
2000 was working more consistently. I then thought it
may be something with either Frontpage XP or SP2 for
office XP since our computer on our network are setup
with this. However this didn't seem to be the problem.
The other thing about it was that I could edit some of
the subwebs directly and see all the files/folders under
hyperlinks and others I could not. So far the only thing
I have left to test is that we are mostly a Novell
environment. My outside computer I tested with does not
have the Novell client installed. However all our
internal computers do run Netware Client 4.9.

I am wondering if for some reason the Novell Client is
causing problems. However as I said before when I start
to think I may have a solution or get close to the answer
I end back up at the beginning becasue it fails after
several different tests.

Again if this sounds like the problem you are having
please e-mail me, I would like to see if we can get this
issue resolved for both of us.
