Can't search with explorer.exe

I was trifling with some Windows XP "Tweak" programs and
somewhere along the way my system refused to allow me to
search any folders. I can click on that little "Search"
button in windows explorer and nothing happens. I right
click on a directory and where there was once a "search"
option, there is none. I've been scouring the internet
for information and haven't been able to find anything.
Could anyone here help me? I'd be very grateful.

James

Hi James,

See if this helps: Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /i shell32

For Pro: gpedit.msc has a setting that removes the Search button in Windows
Explorer but does not remove the Search option from the context menu.

If the above doesn't help: Why doesn't Search work?

Kelly,

Thanks so much for replying. I tried both things you
suggested and nothing has changed. (I did them and the re-
booted) The search button appears in explorer, but when I
click on it it does NOTHING. There is still no right-
click "context" option to search either. Any other ideas?
