CAN'T SCAN DISK

Hi,
Wheb I go into tools to do a " Scan and attempt rocovery of bad
sectord. " The scan starts and completes phase 1 & 2 and then a message
comes up saying the scan can not be completed.
Can anyone tell me why and/or how to correct this problem.

Try this: open a command prompt (Run->cmd.exe), then run chkdsk. See what that says.
