Can't save pics

The only format my windows will let me save pics in now is bitmap. This just occured recently. I used to have jpg and many other formats I could save in. Don't even know where to start to restore that function. Have done 3 system restores to earlier time and still have the same problem.
 
It's time to perform some house cleaning chores:

Go to Start > Run and type: CLEANMGR.EXE , and hit enter.
This will start your disk cleanup utility. Make sure to cleanup
your Temporary Internet Files.
