Can't save large doc

My thesis (written in 1999 in Word97, Win98, 256MB Pentium II) is just over
116MB.
A few years down the line, I am trying to edit parts of it, but cannot save
/ autosave and get the 'not enough space on drive' dialog.
I've put the doc on a separate 15GB drive, and my swap file (max 4095MB) on
yet another separate 30GB drive, but end up with the same result.
I'm using Win2000 Pro, Word 2000 - all updated with 1GB ram - this time
round.

Any ideas on how I can overcome this problem. Or should I try it out on a
PII under Win98 ;)

Thanks, Peter

The limit is 32 MB, but only for text; graphics don't count.

The 32 MB limit is for all versions of Word that I know of (though these
parameters have not been published for Word 2003).
