Hi
I've never seen this in Word 2002, but I had occasions in earlier versions
of Word where this problem indicated a corrupt template or document.
If the problem is happening in all documents, then at Tools > Options > File
Locations, note the location of the user templates. Exit Word and use
Windows Explorer to go to the location you noted earlier. Re-name the
normal.dot file in that location as oldnormal.dot. When you re-start Word,
it will create a new normal.dot. If that solves the problem, you can use
Tools > Templates and Add-ins to copy any customizations from oldnormal.dot
to your new normal.dot.
If the problem only occurs on some documents, then follow the steps at
How can I recover a corrupt document or template - and why did it become
corrupt?

Hope this helps.
