can't retrieve file

Hi, Folks!
We put together a slideshow of our sons' football teams' games. It's a big
file and we don't know if that is the problem but now we can't pull it up. It
shows it is saved but we get one of the following two messages:
The line that comes up when we try to open the power point file is: path or
file name for c:/Documents and setting/mom/my documents/2004 football.ppt is
invalid. Please check that the path and file name are correct.

Other times it says PowerPoint can't open the type of file represented by
falcon slide show.

The file is about 600,000KB.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN AND WHAT CAN WE DO SO WE DON'T HAVE TO START ALL OVER
AGAIN?

Thanks,
Football Moms

Your file is huge. I mean, it comes close to not even fitting on a CD. I
would bet that it's because you used a bunch of photos people took on their
digital cameras -- but you didn't resize them for on-screen shows. That
combined with things like leaving on Allow Fast Saves is just asking for
trouble with your file. The three links above will help you understand what
you can do to make your file smaller -- if you can retrieve it at all, that
is.

You can resize the images so you don't have to start all over if that is
indeed the issue. There's a link to a good "automatic optimization" tool on
the "what can I do about my big file size" page.
