whenever i double click on a drive it used to open the drive now i get the search file.how do i go back to open file?

Go to:

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_folder_open.htm

Following the short instructions for the fix, which include downloading the
very small script file:
xp_folder_open.vbs.

Double click that file after you've downloaded it to your drive. Your
Registry key and value will be updated, and the problem will be fixed.

Hi Ronnie,

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /i shell32

If that doesn't correct the issue (and it should) use this automated edit:

Search or CMD Opens When Double Clicking a Folder or Drive (Line 18)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the VBS File: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you
may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double-click the vbs file.
You will be prompted when the script is done.

Start - Run - regedit.exe
Open the left pane (explorer style) to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
Highlight it, and in the right pane double click on (Default) and enter
the exact four character word
none

Repeat at
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\Folder\shell
and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
