Hi,
I've been emailing a friend about this problem for months now, and I am out
of ideas so thought maybe you guys could help. He has a mid tower set up
running xp home. Nothing fancy. He got a version of picturit by microsoft
with his camera and loaded it. When he transfers photos fm camer to
computer picture it launches. He doesn't want it to launch.
So:
downloaded irfanview and associated all graphics file types with irfanview.
It still launches.
uninstalled picture it. it stall launches.
reformatted the card 3 times . it still launches.
thanks for any ideas.

Obviuosly it wasn't un installed. Lookin start- programs -startup

Start - run - type MSCONFIG -ok check the start up tab for things
loading at boot time.

What exactly are you refering to? The card in the camera? waste of time.

jad,
thanks for reply. I'm pretty sure clearing everything in the startup was
step one, but it's been so long I forgot. I mailed Scott, and asked him
to check it. thanks.

the card is the one in the camera. the program tries to launch whenever the
card is put in the card reader. thinking there may be something on the
card,
Scott reformatted it. Because the program isn't there anymore, it can't
find
it so he has to close the window that says the program isn't there before he
has control of the system. It's a small thing, but bothersome. I also told
him
to run regedit, search on "pictureit" and delete all the entries but he
wasn't
confident enough to fool around with his registry.

Mike

are his pictures in JPG format?
have him change the file association to something like 'paint'\

yes, jpg, and ok, sent him email to sw asso. to paint, however,
somewhere along the line i had him install irfanview and associated
all grapics types with irfanview. maybe paint will do the trick.
thanks
