Can't remove Internet Connection Sharing

I am running XP SP2. In my list of network devices I have a single
100Mbs active network LAN connection to my home router and another
Firewire connection that is disabled. Windows Firewall is enabled.
These things are all normal.

I recently noticed that I have an entry called "Network Connection" in
the Network Gateways list. This "device" is listed as running at
10Mbs. I tried to disable this entry by right clicking on it and then
choosing "disable", but this does nothing. I am not running through a
proxy, and I am not using my PC as an Internet gateway, and so I became
suspicious of this entry. I ran virus scans and SpyBot, and nothing
was found. I noticed that this entry appears about 30 seconds after
enabling my primary network connection. I tried disabling Windows
Firewall, but this did not seem to make it go away. The only way that
I can make it go away is to disable the LAN connection, but then it
comes back shortly after I re-enable the LAN connection. I clicked on
"Status", and then on the "Advanced" tab, and after about 60 seconds of
waiting, I get a list of virtual server ports that are attributed to
the game Battlefield 2, (I have Battlefield 2 identified as an enabled
application in ICF), and one port that is attributed to remote desktop
(which I have enabled). I checked my work PC which has a similar
SP2/ICF configuration, and it does not have this phantom Internet
Connection. A search of the web uncovered nothing. Can someone shed
some light as to why this thing appears on my machine? Thanks.

The gateway connection is being created by your router. It lets you
monitor and control the router's operation. It's perfectly normal and
nothing to be concerned about.

The 10Mbs speed that it gives is the rated speed of the router's WAN
(Internet) connection to your cable or DSL modem.
