Can't remove email acct

I have Outlook 2002 hitting an Exchange 5.5 server on a
laptop that I've given to a new user. The old user's
mailbox remains in Outlook even though it doesn't exist
in E-Mail Accounts\Exchange Server Settings under the
Tools menu. Nor does it exist under the new user's
account as an additional mailbox. How do I remove it?

Additional info: my Exchange server died last week and I
rebuilt Exchange on a differently named server. The
mailbox that I want to remove attempts to connect to the
old Exchange server. Also, I just upgraded the laptop
from Win98 to XP Pro and Office 2000 to Office XP Small
Business.

Thanks for the help!

I would check in the registry where the account information is stored and
see if it is listed. Before removing/modifying anything in the registry you
should backup your data, and backup the registry. If you are not familiar
with working in the registry then I do not suggest that you attempt to
modify the registry. The path to the accounts in the registry is
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\OMI Account
Manager\Accounts
Under the Accounts key, the accounts are listed sequentially, for example
00000001 and 00000002. Click on each account, and then locate the SMTP
Email Address field in the right pane. Verify each address to determine if
it is one that you want to delete.

I hope this information is helpful.
