I am having a problem finding help removing applications that automatically
run at start up. I know it used to be the autoexect.bat file. I also looked
in the autoexec.nt file but the programs are not listed there. I have tried
many avenues to locate these start up files but had no luck. Please give me
detailed instructions.

this helps you scour your registry by organizing them
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html
when you find an unwanted entry, uncheck it, then double click the filename.
Your registry will open up
and show you that the entry has been recatergorized as disabled. The
reverse is true if you re-check on the disabled line item.

Remember to make a "restore point" before using the above. Doesnt hurt to
have a little insurance.....

Then reboot.

Sometimes, if a software is engaged, either when you start it, or when it
was programmed to start itself without you knowing, the
entries will get reinstalled into the bootup again. So if you know which
program is re-entering itself into the boot, you may want
to find its folder and simply delete it.

Thank out, but is there a function within the windows program to remove the
applications from the boot menu? In the previous versions of windows I was
able to remove the line from the autoexec.bat file.

try, start>run>msconfig

Start/Run/"msconfig" (no quotes)

Start tab

Uncheck the things you don't want.
