I have Roadrunner that Has always worked but all of a sudden I try to get my
email and it asked for login and password. I use a blackberry that stil
receives all of my email. Here is the error message..
Account: 'pop-server.bak.rr.com', Server: 'pop-server.bak.rr.com',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR a user name MUST be entered', Port:
110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91.
Any suggestions.

The account may be corrupted. Delete that mail account, restart
Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

Account corruption is often caused by a non-compatible antivirus.
Which antivirus are you running? As a minimum, email scanning
in the antivirus must be turned off.

Before I start deleting. Why would it just stop working? I haven't added or
deleted anything from the computer. I use trend micro antivirus and webroot
spysweeper but nothing has changed on my computer or protection programs. My
wife has an email under this acount and it works fine. Thanks for the timely
response.

Problems in Windows Mail caused by an antivirus take time to start
showing symptoms, perhaps several months. We think it happens when
the antivirus deletes a suspicious email message. The top three antivirus
programs to cause these problems are Norton, McAfee and Trend Micro.
In severe cases the antivirus must be uninstalled before the problem with
Windows Mail is cured.

If renewing the account and turning off the antivirus email scanning function
does not resolve your problem, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail,
because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly aggressive
antivirus programs.

Either way, email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for
reasons explained here:

Problems in Windows Mail caused by antivirus programs are often slow
in appearing.

A recent version of the Trend antivirus program tends to cause assorted
problems in Windows Mail, and often doesn't make all users or all
email accounts have the same problems. Just disabling part or all of
the Trend program seldom helps - you usually have to uninstall it
instead. You then sometimes need to remove that email account under
Windows Mail, then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.

Webroot Spysweeper also causes problems in Windows Mail, but
it usually stops doing this if you change its settings so that it no longer
scans email.

If this solves your problem, you may want a replacement antivirus
program that doesn't cause problems in Windows Mail. The Norton,
McAfee, and Trend antivirus programs are bad choices; they are the
three antivirus programs that cause the most problems in Windows
Mail.

I recommend either avast! or AVG, either one with a custom
install where you tell it to leave out the parts that scan email.
