When i get to the screen where it needs my product key
it, i enter the one that is on the windows sticker on my
computer, but it keeps saying "the product id you entered
is not valid". How can I fix this?

Are you using the factory CD that came with your PC?

Be extra careful of letters and numbers that might look like other
letters/numbers. 8 and B, sometimes the Q may look like something else, etc.
I've found the use of a magnifying glass sometimes help (old eyes <g>) in
discerning the correct characters.

If you bought the OS from an online auction, Internet reseller, flea market,
etc. it could be a counterfeit (some are very professionally done) or one
where the volume PKs were provided and MS disabled these misused/illegal
copies.
