Can't Quite Connect

I have two computers connected via (Linksys) wireless. Both computers can
communicate with the router (ie: I can pull up the admin website on both
computers and they both are being assigned addresses via DHCP).

The Ultimate Goal is to share a dial-up internet connection on the desktop
computer with the laptop computer.

The first computer is a desktop running XP Home SP2, current with all
updates. It uses the built in XP firewall. Theoretically, the desktop should
have file, print, and internet connection sharing all enabled (at least the
Windows GUI seems to think they are).

The second is a laptop running XP Pro SP2, current with all updates. It uses
Zone Alarm for its firewall.

The laptop can successfully ping the IP address of the desktop, but cannot
ping by the computer name.

The desktop cannot ping the IP address or the name of the laptop.

"Net View xxx" commands don't work from either computer.

Both have the same workgroup name (YES, I've checked it more than once), but
neither computer can see the other when enumerating the computers in the
workgroup.

If someone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

Has Zone Alarm been configured?

I had a similar problem. I sorted it this way.
1. Uninstall ZA - Reboot
2. Set up network and enable File sharing on both computers.
3.Once you are able to surf each PC, and the internet works OK, re-install
ZA and allow it to detect the network etc: upon a reboot.
