I am running Excel '97 Pro on a Windows '98 box.
I have a web query that runs each night (file is in XLStart and Excel is in
Task Scheduler) and I have multiple Add-Ins installed -- none of which were
installed close to the time this mystery first appeared.
All this seems to work fine, except periodically but with no consistency, I
get a pop-up error message in Excel that says "Can't Quit at this time".
At the point in time that I get this error message, I have generally already
saved and closed the file containing the web query results, and have some
other Excel file open.
There are "OK" and "Help" buttons on the error message box, and if I click
on OK the message comes right back up, if I click on Help, I get an error
message that says VAenLR3.HLP cannot be found (I can find no references to
this file on the internet).
Eventually, without my input, Excel closes -- but only when it's in the
background (ie: I am focused on another software). I have never had Excel
close when I was actively working in a spreadsheet.
I am totally lost by this behavior. Could this be caused by the Task
Scheduler? Any other ideas on what might cause this?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
