Hello,

After installing an Epson C60 printer, I can only print from an admin
account on my WinXP conmputer. Non-admin accounts can see the printer and
send print jobs but, nothing actually comes out of the printer itself.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, one idea: Try adding print permissions to everyone on the security tab
of this folder:

C:\Windows\system32\spool

In a Pro system, you need to first disable simple file sharing under folder
options/view tab to see the security tab in the folder properties. In a Home
system, you need to restart in Safe mode and use the administrator logon
(it's not available in normal mode).

Thanks Rick but, it still won't work! Here's what I did:

- logged in as Administrator in Safe Mode (XP Home)
- opened Explorer and right clicked on c:\windows\system32\spool
- selected Properties and clicked the Security tab
- gave Full permissions to all groups that were shown (Admins, System,
Users, Creators)
- restarted and logged in with a Limited User account
- tried to print; no good

Some additional pertinent info:

- When I try to print, I can actually see the job spool in the printer
window but, nothing comes out.
- This behavior is consistent on both Limited User accounts that exist on my
PC.
- If I change a Limited account to an Administrator account, it works ok.
- I have other printers setup on this PC that work fine for everyone.

Any other ideas; thanks?

Hi,

Have you tried reinstalling the driver set while logged on as a limited
user? You will need to right click the setup file and use "run as". I've
seen this before on Epson and brother printers, and it is definitely a
permissions issue. Usually assigning the proper "print" permission to the
limited users resolves it.
