Hi,

I'm having a really irritating problem with a program for learning another
language. There are sound (.wav) files in the package that I just can't hear
;

" Error in MCI command 'open "D:\data\audio\o000\o000042.wav" alias
mcic12018 type WaveAudio wait'

No wave device is installed that can play files in the current format.

Of course there is a device that plays wave files, it's my creative sound
card and plays wave files (such as the windows sound scheme) without a
problem.

If I browse to the folder in the CD containing the wave files then I can
play them, but every time I use the program and click on "listen" I get the
error above.

I updated all the drivers for my soundcard, I checked the default player for
wave files ( Windows Media Player) and now I am stuck...

Thanks in advance

Then is sounds to me that it's not a problem with Windows, but likely a
problem with that program?

Does that program work on a different PC? Have you contacted the vendor for
assistance?

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I have contacted the vendor and they recommended that I upgrade the drivers
for my sound card - did that - no effect..

It does work on another PC, another PC with the same OS - XP PRO. The CD is
in use by all of my class mates for this language course, I am the only one
having this problem which leads me to believe that it's a local problem with
my machine..

Going slowly mental...

I have the similer problem. Everiting starts when I tryed to play clips an
there has a problem with sound so I uninstall all audio and video codecs and
reinstall them again. Everithing was fine and I found no problems until I try
to use NetMeeting. When I use it there was no sound neither on my PC neither
on my friend's PC. So I try to play some wave files on WM Player 10 an some
of them was played fine but some not and WMP says that he needs codecs to
play the file. I find anaother problem with .wav files I have a domain under
construction and there has a picture, when this picture is clicked sound must
be played. This works before but now in dosn't.
Maybe Moray has problem with some audio codecs too. Thanks
I'll be grateful if someone can help. I hate to reinstall windows for such
a smal things.

I'm sorry for any errors but my english is not very well. Tenks
