Cant Play mpeg files on WMP

I have some mpeg video files on cd which I'd like to play
on my pc - I have no dvd card or drive but thought I
could play these. I've downloaded programs such as Divx
and the WMEncoder to try and assist but none can
recognise and run it.

WMP tries to dload codecs but fails, any help
appreciated. (running WinXP Home with all updates
installed, 512meg ram, 1800+ AMD athlon processor)

What type of mpeg files is it?
You chould try to dl "GSpot" from the net (inst a program
that checks the video file for what codecs it uses)

Try Quicktime (download from web). That plays MPEGs.
