Can't play AVI files in XP

Hi,
I cant' play AVI files in XP. I copied the files to hard
disk and tried to play them with the windows media player.
I even tried with windows media player 9. It says error
downloading codec and they plays only audio.
What can be my problem??

Try reading this newsgroup a little... You'll find this question asked 100's
of times a week. You probably need the DiVX codec available from
www.divx.com.

Did anybody give you any advice? I'm having the same
problem... everything but AVIs play fine, but for AVIs,
can't find the right codec... seems really stupid....

hey asswipes, answer the question and dont be all dork-ass "this question is asked a million times a week" or maybe shut the hell up
