Just trying to find a way to open a word2003 doc in word
2000. When trying to do that nothing happens. Will not
open file. Any fixes to this? Thanks for any help.

Hi Ed

I've opened lots of documents created in Word 2003 in both Word 2002 and
2000. The file structure is the same, and there are no systemic problems
to doing this. So I'll guess that there is a problem with your
particular document.

Try this. Open the document in Word 2003. Tools > Options. Click the
Save tab. At the bottom of the dialog box, click the "Disable features
introduced after" box and choose Microsoft Word 97. If there are things
in your document (such as nested tables) that wouldn't transfer back to
97, then Word will tell you. This may give you some ideas as to what is
causing your problem.

Alternatively, we could assume that the document contains some
corruption. Using Word 2003, follow the steps on the following page:
How can I recover a corrupt document or template - and why did it become
corrupt?
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm

Then, try to open the new document in Word 2000.

Does that solve the problem?

Hope this helps.
