Hi there!
I am having a problem with one of my clients. The situation is this: small
business with one stand-alone PC connected to ISP via dial-up. He is on a
Windows 2000 PC using Office/Outlook 2003. The problem that I am having is
that the user routinely receives Word attachments via email. When I
double-click on the attachment, I receive the following error message:
"Can't create file: <filename>. Right-click on the folder you want to
create the file in and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check
your permissions for the folder."

I am able to open the attachment without a problem if I access the user's
email through Outlook Express. I am also able to save the attachment
elsewhere on the PC and then open it without a problem, so I am thinking
there is a security setting somewhere within Outlook 2003 that is preventing
me from opening the file directly from within the email message. The user
indicates that he used to be able to open it without a problem until
recently. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

If the attached file always has the same name you can have a problem
when you reach the 99th time you open it. The attachment will open
fine earlier with the file name "file.***", "file(2).***", etc all the
way to 99. For some reason Outlook doesn't like 100. To get around it
delete all the files with similar names in ..\Username\local
settings\temporary internet files\olk** or similar.
It worked OK for me.
