Yesterday I found myself unable to Open a web using the
File/Open Web command. I get a "The
folder "http://websitename.com" isn't available. It may
be contained . . . . . . I can open a web from
the "Recent Webs" command with no problem.

FrontPage 2002, Windows XP Pro.

I have re-installed FP, did a system restore to a time I
know it worked, shut down Zone Alarm. Shut down anti-
virus, adjusted IE 6 security settings. I am out of
ideas - anyone?

Try using www. If that doesn't work try using your IP address or contact
your host to run a check on the extensions and/or check the permissions for
your account.

WWW does not work, this happens with ALL of the web sites
I try. I have re-installed the FP extensions on all
servers I am having the problem with. I believe it may be
some kind of local setting causing the problem.

Try using the IP address, unless hosted on shared IPs.

I am on a shared server. If I use Run/frontpg
http://webname.com it will open. Once the site is in my
Recent Web list I can open it from there with now
problem. However if I try to save any files using the
SaveAs command it will only give me an option of saving to
my local server. It has to be some kind of local
setting. I have reset all my IE setting but I am against
a brick wall. My only choice at this point is to publish
to my local server and then work on everything from
there. Problem is I travel and find it better to work
live.

Thanks

You need to contact your host, if you can't save to the server, then it is a
permissions issue on the server.

That is not the problem because I use several different
servers for various web sites. Also on the majority of my
servers I have access to WHM panel and can set my own
permissions. This is not an isolate server problem. It
has to be something in the way of a local setting. If I
use my laptop I do not have the issue.

Ok, then compare your IE settings (connection) between your laptop and this
specific computer, and also look at any recent software installs and/or
Office or IE/Windows updates.
