Brian,
It sounds like the application needed may not be installed on your computer
yet. Are the attachment's file extension .zip by any chance? A .zip file is
a compressed file that needs a utility such as WinZip to open. If the
attachment is a .zip file, go here and download & install. Then go to your
e-mail attachment and attempt to open.
By the way, to create an association to a particular application, you need
to again find out the file extension the attachment was sent in.
Using the .zip example again:
* Save the attachment named 'xxxx.zip' to your Desktop,
* Click on 'xxxx.zip', if a zip utility exists, the attachment will open. If
it doesn't, a window opens that says 'Windows cannot open this file'.
* Click the option 'Select this program from a list', click OK
* Another window opens, asking to select the program that will open
'xxxx.zip' .
* Locate a Zip utility, make sure the 'Always use the selected program to
open this kind of file' is check marked, click OK.
