Can't open file, is saying is short cut but is 4135kb?

I have a Microsoft Access 2002 file on disc which I was able to read on the
computer I copied it from. When I try to load it on another computer, the
file is recognised as a shortcut? The size of the file is 4135kb and when I
double clickk to open it takes me into Access but does not open the file
itself just the programme. How can I get access to the file information?
