From this morning, I can't open any .xml (and excel.exe too) files !!

Every time I try to do this, a fatal error (blue screen) 016F:BFF744FE
appears to me!
I try to re-boot my os, but it don't works.
Why? Any solutions? Please help me...

Pentium II, 256MB RAM, Win98, Office 2000, 12GB free on hard disk.

Thanks.

ps: answers only here, not e-mail.

Katia;

You probably won't get any answers here because it is not an excel problem,
but a system problem. Not seeing any error messages etc makes me think its a
memory issue. Try clearing out everything in your temp files and doing some
basic computer diagnostics, i.e. disk check, disk cleanup, and defrag, then
see if that clears the problem up.

If not, try posting in the windows 98 user group. I would also suggest
getting upgraded out of W98 as soon as you can.

Is it only when you try to open excel? by chance have you also installed a
new sound card?

yes, only with excel!
I don't installed a new sound card, only new drivers...but at least ten
days ago and I used Excel normally since sunday afternoon....

I also try to clean my HD like John write but it still doesn't work! :-(

thanks, hallo.

Will it start in Safe mode?
Start Excel in Safe Mode
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Click Browse, and then locate the folder where Microsoft Excel is
installed, as specified earlier in this article.
3. After you locate the Excel.exe file, click the file to select it, and
then click Open.
4. At the end of the path in the Open box, type a space and then type /s so
that the entire line appears similar to the following:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /s
