can't open email attachment, I get message; application not found

I removed a program called Nero from my computer. Now when I get e mails the
attachments have an icon I don't recognize and when I try to open the
attachments I get a message stating; application not found

I am using windows XP home on my computer. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
 
You will need to reset the associations for these files types (which you
failed to mention) under Control Panel->Folder Options.
